How Joining Works

Switching brokerages is mostly paperwork, and most of it is on us. Here’s exactly what happens, in order:

Reach out. Fill out the form on the Join Our Brokerage page or call Michael directly at 616-745-3280. It’s a conversation, not a pitch — fit, your production, and the numbers on that page.
Tell your current broker you’re moving. Give notice under your current agreement and settle any pending commissions per that agreement. Your license can’t be active under two brokers at once, so this step comes first.
Transfer your license in MiPLUS. Log into your MiPLUS account, go to Licenses, choose Modification, then “Transfer or Employing Broker Notification.” Enter Robert Michaels LLC’s broker license number, 6505389762, and submit. Michael approves the connection in MiPLUS as your new employing broker.
LARA processes it. Usually same day to a few business days. You’ll get confirmation, and your license will show under Robert Michaels LLC. Don’t do licensed work under the new brokerage until it shows active.
Sign the paperwork. Independent contractor agreement stating the 85/15 split, $12,000 annual cap, $50/month fee, and $250 per transaction after cap — plus a W-9.
Get set up to sell. GRAR/MichRIC membership and Flexmls access moved under the new brokerage, plus Supra eKey. Each salesperson pays their MLS dues directly to GRAR every month, before the 25th. Then you’re live.

One honest note: your clients and relationships come with you. Any active listings stay with your current brokerage unless that broker releases them — that’s standard, and we’ll talk through it if it applies to you.
